Re: Two watts of 640nm
There is a slight dip in the absorption of MB-DCG at about 640nm. But, with 2 W to play with, what do you care!

Photonics West 2025
Here are the papers being presented this year at the Photonics West Practical Holography session: https://spie.org/PW25O/conferencedetails/practical-holography This year, it's chaired by Hiroshi, with whom some of us had many conversations over the years, and Pierre-Alexandre Blanche, with whom I've...

Re: I wonder why these stripes appear. Is it due to temperature fluctuations during the exposure process?
It looks like object motion. Temperature fluctuations are unlikely, considering the cat seems to be made of a non-metallic substance. Non-metallic substances have a low thermal expansion coefficient. From the look of the stripes structure, it looks like the back end of the cat moved, the interferenc...

Re: today's DCG
Did you mean UV exposure before laser exposure, or after? Before. The most important parameter in efficiency is the modulation, the density difference between plane and not-plane. If the planes already existed in the emulsion - the latent image - then there might be non-uniform hardening between pl...

Re: today's DCG
If the objective is to harden the surface of the gelatin to limit differential swelling later on, I would think that the amount of time the gelatin is in the fixer would be quite important. Actually, thinking further, I might not have expressed it properly. Bearing in mind that the hardener stiffen...

Re: today's DCG
I probably underestimated the importance of post-exposure hardening/reducing by the use of fixer. It's quite important. As I mentioned earlier, it hardens the surface so that it limits the differential swelling. It's a bit of a balancing act (as most DCG holography is!) because if you over-harden, ...
