A forum member receives a "time-out"

Post by admin_jsfisher »

BobH is temporarily banned from this forum for a period of two weeks.

It is clear to me that at least two of the members, here, do not get along. I accept that, people are people with their own likes and dislikes, but I do insist that whatever animosity one has towards another forum member one keeps out of the forum. We should be able to be civil in our postings, and if that is too much to ask when responding to another, well, simply don't respond. That seems to have been an ongoing problem for BobH.

By the way, I am hoping BobH does return to the Holography Forum after his fortnight away. He is a valued contributor, here, and he abandoning the forum would be a loss.

I read a few of their posts and the rhetoric seems more or less the same on both sides. Why ban one and not the other?

Thanks for commenting. I respect you both.

It is a little difficult to adequately discuss my full reasoning for BobH's temporary ban. The most egregious posts have been removed, so I cannot highlight what they contained nor compare and contrast them with posts by Dinesh, but this is not the first time BobH's posts (and some of Dinesh's) have been removed with cause. Some received explicit warnings regarding the incivility of the posts.

It may well be that my action was incorrect or incomplete, but about all that can be said now is that I thought at the time it appropriate.
