I’m in touch with a company that claims to be able to produce green sensitive silver halide plates equivalent to the Slavich PFG-03 up to 10”x12”. My personal interest is plates 12x16” up to 12x20” which they say they are looking into making. I know Josh Dellay is trying to learn to make silver halide plates and has at least one other “iron in the fire” for some type of new silver halide plate manufacturer.
This would be an alternative to the currently unavailable Slavich plates and the excellent and very expensive Ultimate and TruLife Optics silver halide plates. At the moment, there’s no information for price and availability in the US but I’m working on it.
If you think you might be interested in green sensitive plates like this, of whatever size, please let me know. The people I’m talking to would like a projection, if possible, of what might be the immediate interest in the US hologram market - specifically plate sizes and quantities.
I will be getting a small quantity of 4x5s, hopefully before Labor Day, which I will test.

I think it important that the company you're in touch with state the grain size of their emulsions. This gives information on the exposure as well as the processing chemicals required.
I was at ABNH when Agfa stopped producing plates. I was tasked with finding an alternative to Agfa. I called TJ, who suggested Kodak. Luckily, the grain sizes of Agfa and Kodak were not too different, so there was not much of a learning curve. However, transferring from Agfa to Slavich was a bit of a problem. For one thing Slavich is a fine-grain material, so I had to reconfigure all my exposures. Also, I used to dry the Agfa plates with IPA, but I went through an entire box before finding that IPA made the latent image disappear and I had to dry with photo-flo (I also got print-out using photo-flo, but that's another story).

Fine grain is not required for monochrome green holograms. I estimate the permissible range to be 15–25 nm. SLavich 5-15 nm, 35-40% - 10 nm.
Slavich emulsions are not hardened. Isopropanol causes reticulation during drying; it is better to treat them with a surfactant or ethanol.

Depends on what is meant by 'fine'. I believe 'fine' is relative to photographic grain size ( see below from "Silver Halide Recording Materials" by H.Bjelkhagen). However, like any such term, it's open to interpretation. I remember asking the Gentet brothers about grain size, when they launched Ultimate at the Austria conference in 2000.
